Frequently Asked Questions

Does insulation really work?

Yes. In most homes in South East Queensland our experience and feedback from customers tells us that on average homeowners can expect to experience a drop in the inside temperature of around 8 to 10C in summer and the house is around 5C warmer over winter.

How does insulation work?

Allpro has more than 30 years in the house building and construction arenas and has selected Glasswool batts as the safest and most cost effective insulation for existing homes. Made from recycled glass, which is melted and spun into a web of fibres, Glasswool works by trapping pockets of air between its fibres and slowing down the transfer of heat. In summer this barrier makes it harder for heat to pass through the batts and enter the house, while in winter it slows the movement of warm air from the home through the ceiling. This resistance to heat flow is measured by R value and in Queensland the Federal Government recommends R3 rating for homes.

What insulation does Allpro recommend?

With 30 years experience in the construction sector Allpro has built up a thorough understanding of what is the safest, best value for money and most environmentally friendly form of insulation. That’s why we have settled on Glasswool batts as the safest and most effective. Because they are made from recycled glass, Glasswool batts are good for the environment and because they cannot burn they are safe in your home. Also, they don’t have any affect on people with asthma or allergies and they don’t cause cancer. Allpro is a proud Australian employer and we recommend and install insulation made from other Australian owned companies.

How do you install insulation?

Glasswool batts are placed in the ceiling of your home by our trained teams of installation professionals. They simply place the batts on top of the ceiling in between ceiling battens. Where possible, our installers lift wires and place them on top of the batts and we cut around all equipment such as bathroom and kitchen extraction fans and flues or vents. We also cut around down lights and spotlights.
Is there a standard size of batt?
Generally there are two spaces between ceiling battens in Queensland homes – 600ml or 500mls. Allpro stocks batts to fit either ceiling spacing.

How do the installers get the batts into the roof?

Our preferred option is to place full bales of batts into the ceiling using the manhole. Once in the roof we open the bales and carefully lay the batts on the ceiling. Unfortunately many older homes have very small manholes or no ceiling access at all. In these cases we have to talk with the homeowner and identify the best entry method. This may involve pushing back tiles, removing roofing or installing a manhole.
Our trained sales and installation teams can identify the safest and least disruptive way of putting energy saving batts in your ceiling with a minimum of fuss.

How do you work out how much insulation is needed?

All you need to do is contact Allpro and one of our sales professionals will arrange a visit to your home. After identifying the areas to be insulated, the sales agent will measure the area to be insulated and give you a full, written quote with all the information you need to make a decision.

Are all houses capable of being insulated?

Generally, most homes in Queensland can be insulated, but there are some exceptions. The best way to find out is to call Allpro and we will arrange for a sales professional to pay a visit to the home and make an on-the-spot appraisal.

Can I get the insulation done when it suits?

Once you accept Allpro’s quote we aim to get your home insulated with two to three weeks. One of our team will contact you about a week before the scheduled installation date and discuss a time and day that best suits your lifestyle.

How do I know your installers will do a good job?

Allpro has a team of fully trained installers who work in accordance with in accordance with the Australian Standards (AS39999) and Worksafe procedures. To give you added peace of mind we have Quality Control Managers who visit your house once the job is done and make a thorough inspection to ensure our high standards have been met. There is no charge for these follow-up audits; they are just part of Allpro’s commitment to meeting our customers’ expectations for safe and high quality service.
